RideSmart Q-Ride Pre-Learner Course
• Duration: Up to 6.5 hours per day, Day 1 & Day 2
RideSmart Q-Ride Restricted Course
• Duration: Up to 8 hours, including a 2-hour on-road ride.
RideSmart Q-Ride Unrestricted Course
• Duration: Up to 4 hours, including a 2 hour on-road ride.
RideSmart 1-on-1 Training, Group Training Courses
• Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Do you provide Motorbikes?
Yes! RideSmart provides a motorcycle, helmet, gloves, jacket, and wet weather gear at no extra charge. You are also welcome to bring your own helmet, jacket, and gloves if you prefer — many students feel more comfortable in their personal gear.
What you need to bring:
Important: You must wear clothing made from thick, sturdy material and fully enclosed footwear at all times during training.
From 12 November 2025, TMR is changing how riders check if they are eligible for Q-Ride courses.
TMR has advised that riders with overseas or interstate motorcycle licences are being shown as “not eligible” when using the Check My Q-Ride Course Eligibility tool on the TMR website.
To fix this issue, TMR now requires anyone who cannot confirm their eligibility online to visit a TMR Customer Service Centre in person. At the TMR office, you will be given an official approval letter from TMR confirming whether you are eligible to do your Pre-L, RE or R course.
Students may be permitted to use their own motorcycle only in accordance with RideSmart’s Terms & Conditions, specifically Section 9 – Motorcycles: Safety & Insurance Requirements, Subsection 9.1.

By bringing a personal motorcycle, students accept full responsibility for compliance, insurance, and risk. RideSmart reserves the right to refuse any motorcycle if it does not meet all requirements.
No one plans to crash, and our instructors work hard to prevent it, but if it does happen, you’re not alone. All RideSmart training bikes are covered by Comprehensive and Public Liability insurance, so you’re protected during your course.
If you bring your own motorcycle, you are responsible for any damage to it, in line with our Terms & Conditions.

Due to Queensland’s unpredictable weather, all courses begin as normal, and safety decisions may be made on the day. Wet weather is not grounds for cancellation, reschedule, or refund. * Wet weather jacket and pants will be provided if it is raining.

Balance is a crucial skill for motorcycle riding.
If you are unable to ride a push bike, we strongly recommend practicing beforehand. Developing basic balance will make your training smoother, improve safety, and help you progress more confidently.
